Greetings Global Art Spot friends,

As you may know, I planned a Day of the Dead workshop for this past Saturday. I have been promoting it for 8 weeks. I was lucky to have media coverage for it in The Gazette, The Sentinel and The Washington Post!

The plan was to build an altar in the tradition of the holiday with the workshop participants. I, as usual created an alter for my ancestors on November 2 and I made it to accommodate the work of my workshop participants.

There were two wonderful people who gave me verbal registrations and others who seemed interested. On Friday evening when I was still without any other confirmations, I decided to cancel the workshop.
.
The process was a great learning experience for me and I look forward to working toward connecting with more people who have an interest in creativity.

I love the work that I do in Howard, Montgomery, Anne Arundel and Baltimore counties here in MD. My goal is to also offer opportunities for exploring creativity right here in my own community.
Suggestions and feedback are welcome.

I found I could say things with color and shapes that I couldn't say any other way--things I had no words for.

ACTION ALERT

Friends, Have you have been hearing the inflammatory conversation on the impacts of the arts in our communities? What planet are these guys on? Look around, the arts bring economic benefits to ALL of our towns and cities.

Preaching to the choir? Please take a moment to support the funding proposed in President Obama's stimulus package for the National Endowment for the arts.

In my professional life the NEA is the org that gets the big bucks and re-grants to the states and counties and orgs. It is crucial to the livelihood of today's working artists. Especially those who focus on education and building communities!
Thanks for the support
